My 1988 Honda Acccord has a push up moonroof.
The seal is obviously bad, even rain leaks in. Does anyone have ideas on how to seal it up for SPL comps.?

The only way to really seal it up is to have a piece of steel welded back in it's place. However, if you take it to a sunroof specialist, and ask them to replace the seals, and make it non leaky, you should be fine. And, you should take comfort in knowing that a sunroof ADDS to the strength of the roof. One more thing, sun roofs pop-up, moon roofs slide all the way open, whether electric or not.

If it dont fit, force it... if it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway...

well i guess i have a mon roof then. ive just been so used to calling them sun roofs. i never knew there was a difference. i had an 86 z-24 with the pop up kind and the roof of that car flexed bad. i could sit there and watch it move up and down to the bass hitting. in my accord, it slides back and i have a better system now, and the roof of this car doesnt move any. dont know if its the car being more solidly built or the type of roof.

Well for SPL you can take a piece of like MDF and have it be bigger then the size of the sunroof. Then get a pole or brace of some sorf and brace it in there. Then after the show take it out...You know what I mean? I have seen this done b4 and works VERY well..

if you dont use it anymore and wand Spl you can seal it useing some silicone, and then pull off your roof liner and replace it with 3/4 inch MDF, and wrap it in vinyl to make it look nice ..

I kinda like ProAudio's idea... would help keep flex to an absolute minimum.

A piece of 1" marine grade plywood and about 30 drywall screws.

Sure, it would leak after you took it off, but it already leaks now, right?

Well if you understood what I said you can do this and then undo it an not tell the wood was ever there and not have screw holes there. But if you dont care if the sunroof is ever usable again there is a ton you can to to seal that.

I have a 93 Cavalier and, once I had this problem. I just took a piece of 3/4" mdf, that was 2 inches bigger than my sunroof all the way around, wraped it in vinyl that matched my interior, then did the same thing on the outside, except it was the exact size of the sunroof, I just routered it out 3/8" so if kind of set in a little more. And I covered it in black vinyl. The put 2 short pieces of 2x4 on the bottom of the top piece and screwed the together at the show. It was easy the black one goes outside the car on the top, and the other one inside. I also used a big rubber seal. This is all assuming your sunroof comes out. Mine did.
