Topic: Head Unit Placement
I am fairly new to db Drag and wanted to know, does my head unit have to be installed in the dash? I will be competing in the street stock A class and have a factory radio. I would like to install an aftermarket head unit so I can use the remote, but I would like to keep it on the drivers side seat when I am competing. Is this legal? I know I can have a podium but I would rather just sit it on the seat. Thanks in advance for your help. [ 06-30-2008, 08:21 PM: Message edited by: icekat317 ]

When you can have a podium i don't see the problem. Make your own podium on the drivers side seat. -------------------- Team Bemi - Peter, Tim en Tim street-A Alpine 9812RB Headunit 1X12" CS MK1 Kevlar CS elt12 Amplifier Battery Oddysee Dutch Champion 2005 155.4DB 2006 Street-B 157DB 2007 Street-A 156.9DB spring break 2008 Street-A 157.7DB 2009 Street-A 158.4DB spring break 2009 Street-A 159.1DB NRW Meistershaft

I thought a podium had to be set up outside the car.

definitely a podium should be outside the car, otherwise it could affect scores, or someone could complain about it.

imo it shouldn't matter. But it would open up loopholes for big fiberglass podiums to be put in the seats and then just shot with a remote --------------------

I believe that that would be a mod in front of the b-pillar and not legal. I know some people have gotten stuck because a cd changer was not mounted. What equiptment are you going to run in Street Stock A? -------------------- Just some thoughts from a nobody.

I've been trying to interpret the rules and it seems pretty light for the Street Stock A class. An interesting thing I noticed was in section 6 - Installation Regulations, Street Stock Division does not call out any rule that says a "source unit" must be completely installed in the dash. However, in the Street Division, it does...see rule 6-8e. I have 2 - 12" Rockford Fosgate HX2 subs and 1 - 1500bd power Rockford Fosgate amp.

The reason it doesn't say it has to be installed in the dash is because you can have an external podium. Have you checked the list of amps for street stock? I don't think your amp is allowed. -------------------- Just some thoughts from a nobody.

Am I correct to assume I will be competing in the Street B class? That is one class you are allowed to compete in based on equipment. The modifications to the car are also a factor. -------------------- Just some thoughts from a nobody.
