I would say no as this could be construed as bracing the outside of the vehicle which the rules state is not legal in SS classes. But I am not a judge.

I personally would say : Why not?
Your allowed to chop the roof,
fill it with something, and weld it back.
As long as it dont change the shape and the interior
volume of the car. And as long it is behind the b pillar.
Nobody can check that on existing cars without
tearing them apart. If you repaint it and fill
it and make it look like original.
Thats just my opinion, regardless that I think it makes
no sense putting screws through the roof [Smile]

so you would say that you can weld an iron wall against the inside but you are not allowed to screw a wooden wall on the outside ??

that looks a bit strange to me

Sounds right to me. No bracing on the exterior but you can brace on the interior (behind the B pillar of course)

The intent of the rule is to make the vehicle to appear stock or factory. I would also venture to say that Wayne wants these vehicles to look good in photo's and advertising to potential sponsors and supporters. If all the vehicles had external modifications it might take away from the appeal.

Why not Peter?
I believe reading this rule does allow it:

Modifications to the external OEM "skin" (body) of the vehicle are not permitted if the modification in question will result in a change in the vehicle's interior volume. The dBDRA defines the "skin" of the vehicle as the external shell (top, front, back, and sides) of the vehicle's OEM body that gives the vehicle its distinctive appearance. This is also the part of the vehicle that is normally painted. The underside or undercarriage of the vehicle is not considered to be a part of the OEM "skin".

Additional Guidelines:

"Chop-tops" are prohibited.
Non-OEM extended roofs are prohibited.
Non-OEM vehicle extensions or "stretches" are prohibited.
Cut-throughs in pickup trucks are permitted in the Street Max, Super Street, and Extreme Divisions provided the enclosure and / or other equipment that is located in the bed of the truck does not extend above the sidewalls of the bed. If the pickup has a commercially available camper shell, then the sidewall restriction does not apply. Homemade camper shells are strictly prohibited.
Modifications that are strictly cosmetic in nature, or that do not affect the internal volume of the vehicle are permissible. This includes spoilers, hood scoops, air dams, fender flares, etc.
Crushing in the roof or the doors of the vehicle in such a manner as to alter the vehicle's interior volume is prohibited.
External bracing on the skin of the vehicle is prohibited.
