I am new to car stereos, but I am addicted and want to start competing in Db Drag racing. Can somebody explain to me how you know what class to compete in? For ex: If I have 4,000 watt amp and 2 subs what class do I compete in? Or 14 subs and a 50 watt amp? Or does it matter?

Thanks,
Newest car stereo fanatic

The rules are more complicated than simply
woofers or power....

Vehicle modifications determine what class
you will be in... then from there you
will determine your clss (a sub-clss of the
modification). Most go by woofers, 9+ full
mods go by power, I do believe (as well)

Welcome to Term-PRO!

In dB Drag Racing, we have 3 divisions of competition. In each division, there are 2 or more classes. Divisions are based on the extent to which you have modified the vehicle for auto sound competition.

The first Division is called Street. It is for newcomers with no structural modifications to their vehicle. There are 2 classes in Street; 1-2 Woofers and 3-4 woofers. The maximum woofer diameter for both classes is 12 inches. The maximum power for the 1-2 woofer class is 600 watts rms and the maximum power for the 3-4 woofer class is 1200 watts rms. If your woofers are larger than 12 inches in diameter, or if your system exceeds the maximum power allowable in each class, or if you have more than 4 woofers, you will need to compete in either the Super Street or Extreme Divisons.

The Super Street Division does not allow any structural modifications in front of the trailing edge of the door jambs (behind the seat.) From there back, you CAN make modifications. You can also have walls in this division. There are 4 classes in Super Street; 1-2 Woofers, 3-4 Woofers, 5-8 Woofers, and 9+ Woofers. You can have up to 50,000 Watts of power.

The final division is Extreme. In Extreme, you can heavily modify your vehicle. There are 6 classes in Extreme; 1-2 Woofers, 3-4 Woofers, 5-8 Woofers, 9+ Woofers 0-5K Watts, 9+ Woofers 5K-10K Watts, and 9+ Woofers 10K+ Watts.

Hope this answers your questions.

I am moving this topic to the dB Drag Racing Questions Forum.
