is it okay to use both the top and side dbattery posts at the same tim? I wqas going to use the side posts for the - & + cables that were alredy there, and the top + post for my sound system. is that okay?

sure it's ok. The reason they make dual post terminals is so the battery will fit in most vehicles. Like GM, Ford, Mits...etc. Go ahead and use both.
