The alt in my car keeps jumping the voltage up to 19 volts for short burst, then it goes back down to 14 volts. It will do this when driving causing the headlights to get very bright and causes the radio to cut off.
This is a stock alt in a 1991 Honda civic. This is the 2nd alt to do this in the car. I have checked both of the 12 volt wires running to the reg but I do not know how to check the 2 wires that run to the computer. Is it possible I got 2 bad alts or does this sound like a problem with the car itself.
