I just got back my last mtx 81000d that was sent to ARC for repair. I got it back and this is what I get. When the car has been started, the front and rear speakers run off a seperate amp. As soon as I plug the RCA's into the mtx, the entire car gets ground loop alternator whine and runs with whatever the rpm's are of the car. I have checked the wiring and ran outside RCA's in the car that are new, and it still happens. I then ran a ground wire from the ground side of the rca's to the ground of both the battery and the vehicle ground and I still get the whine. I DID check using my other car, unplugging the rear amp and running those wires to the other cars sub amp and IT DID NOT WHINE. As soon as you unplug the mtx amp's rca's the whine goes away completely. What could be the cause of this and HOW DO I SOLVE IT?? Its driving me mad maxx!!

check the ground in your vehicle going to the amp. sounds like you have eliminated mostly everything else.

The ground going to the amp is straight from the battery itself. I have a kinetik 2400 right next to the amp and there is NO fuse between them, just straight wire. The battery is bolted to the frame of the car. Again, ONLY when this MTX amp is connected through the RCA's does the problem exsist. When it is unplugged, the whine is eliminated..............nope, I'm still flustrated!

have you tested the mtx amp in a different vehicle? If you do that and the noise is still present, then there is an issue inside the amp where something probably wasn't reconnected right when they put the board into the chassis.

take a ground wire and touch the outside of your RCA's(Metal part) to the mtx amp, if it goes away it can be a broken soldier in the amp.

What DBass & Poprocks Said....

First test it on another vehicle if possible. If there is still noise, its something in the amp. Pull out the main board and the pre-amp and see if anything is making contact with the chassis of the amp that shouldn't be.... or if anything soldered onto the board looks botched.

I already did that and it made no change. I did connect it to another car and the noise went away! I was told that maybe one of the terroids in the amp are picking up interference from my car, but whatever I can do to make it stop, i'm worth trying. I have already done everything that people have said here. I would post this topic if I hadn't! Thanks
