my tahoe gets the battery indicator on the display every once in a while but i have a digital volt meter (stinger display) and its never below where it should be so i dont sweat it. If my truck dies during idle, i would sweat it some.

My trucks only and '01 not an '04.....but the caddy i did dual 270's on was a '04 EXT and it has Zero issues.

Whats the voltage look like on that when you see the indicator light come on?

Sounds to me like the alternator is the wrong one. Was the alternator built for that year and who manufactured the alternator?

There was a guy who had a alt put on his 03 mabye 02 yukon. Had it hard wired into it so Im guessing it was made for his truck. But it still set a code for the Alt F terminal code If Im not mistaken. Check enigne light never came on but it was still in it. Mabye one of thoese wires are mixed up.

what type of battery setup does he have?

im new to high output alternators, just put one on my suv, ive noticed that at idle the alternator doesnt do much of anything. voltage sometimes drops down 12.8-12.9 (radio off) i understand that these alternators arent supposed to charge much at idle, but 1000-2000rpms and ur full blast

if its dropping then that should be normal, but what is his battery situation? would be good to know what voltage it is at when the car shuts off and when those charging dummy lights come on
