Personally.. for power ...I don't feel like there's a huge difference in brands beyond appearance (which matters for competition or personal satisfaction). I use 2 gauge i bought from my local hardware store. Major difference is the flexibility. Let me REITERATE. the MAJOR difference is flexiblility..it is a tremendous b*tch!!! to work with. Make no bones about it. It is hard to work with..but worth the cost difference for me (like 50 cents a foot vs 4 dollars a foot).

for speaker..I usually get a brand name that way its 100% oxygen free copper (OFC).. but i don't think this varies from brand to brand either - keep in mind, this is comparing the comparable lines of each brand.

for RCA's.. i don't feel brand matters, BUT i do go for the higher quality here. I feel that RCA's can be the weaklink in a system.. i go with a shielded twisted pair at least..

As for speaker and power wire, guage is more important than brand. Incidentally, the 'generic' welding cable I am used to has a similar strand count to brand name wire and is nearly as flexible.
