I have a 1973 chevy truck with a modified 350. It doesn't have a large stereo yet but it might. I'm looking for a 250 or so amp alternator. Any Help would be appreciated.

Different manufacturers charge different prices. You can expect to pay anywhere from $200 - $800 depending on where you go. Remember, cheaper is not always better, and more expensive doesn't always have the best guarantee. My suggestion is do some research right here on the forum and read what other users have to say about some of the Alt. Manufacturers out there. During your search you should also come up with some phone numbers, most companies are more than willing to talk to you and advise you without any pushy sales.

As a recent purchaser of a 260 amp alternator from Iraggi Alternator (Dom), and am very happy with the output at idle and his outstanding customer service. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to be satisfied with their purchase! Dom, you're the best!

You can also try Dominick Iraggi. I have talked to many people that has the alts he builds and they say nothing but great things [Big Grin]

BTW no companies are allowed to post prices on here so best thing is to email someone like Dom (who makes alts) or HO-Alternator (who makes alts) and ask for their prices.

Try Jegs or Summit. They have hi amp alts or a lot of older chevy motors cheaper then a lot of other places.

Make sure you check on idle amperage.
