Why not run 0ga from the battery under the hood to the amp, wouldn't this ensure proper grounding or are there other problems with this idea?

I should also note that it is a pretty short run, less than 15 ft.

Your amp will suck up electricity through the (-) path of least resistance. Many variables affect this path, so instead of choosing, why not run a ground cable from your battery's (-) post to your amp-- …and then cut the ground cable as close as you can to the amp so you can splice in a grounding block, grounding the cable to the frame of the vehicle as well as to the battery. A dual ground! Let the electricity decide for itself dood. [Big Grin]

Can you say ground Loop? If your Batt is in the back then run it to the Battery. If not then just ground it to the frame. if you do both you will have a ground loop.
