The dimming is probably from the new alt having an idle output less than the stock alt. The new alt may be a little higher max amperage but is probably a poor design and lacks low rpm performance. Thats the main difference in different manufacturers alts. All 200 amp alts will probably do 200 amps but which one will have some power at idle. And at what rpm does the 200 amps come into play.

How much power do you have?

well, it dimmed before upgrade, and it still dims even when driving at 4000 rpm. im running jbl 1200 at one ohm, so probably around 1200 watts and lanzar vibe410, so thats around 350watts. should the alt need like a break in time?

Your amp will pull around 150 amps full tilt.
If you add that to what your car is pulling to run the fans, ignition etc. Your exceeding the capacity of the alt.
You really need a bigger alternator. Something in the 200 amp range.
