hey all i was wondering which is the best sounding set of the two and also which can get louder with a 80.4 bridged on it (160wx2@4ohm)
i will only use on of these sets as my front stage (mid in the door and tweet in the kick) and eliminate the rear's so i need smthn loud enough to match with my XXX's.

Do those MBQ's have 6(6.5?)" midranges?

I use an older pair of MBQs, QM215.03CX. They are the 5.25" model. I added the MUSICOMP competition x-overs to them. They midrange/highs are crisp but they lack midbass; really lack it. I know the 6" model had more midbass, but not as much as typical 6" midrange components. Not sure how the new models compare.

I've never heard any Focal stuff.

I have the 6.5 Q series MBQuarts. Powering them at 175x2 and they overpower my 2 JL12W3 at 400x2. So yeah, 160x2 would probably be plenty to get LOUD! With the 4 channel you can take advantage of the various MBQuart crossover bi-amping options. They are excellent speakers. But you should listen to MBQuarts first because not everybody loves their tweeters which are very accurate (some think they are too harsh). I have not heard that Focal model before.

bi-amping is not an option man the amp is 40x4 and 160x2 (4ohm both) and i know they can take it but can the focals take it daily and get as loud as the quarts (or close)? they are rated at 100
