I am having a problem with my 2 kx1200.1's strapped shutting off at about 3/4 volume. The voltage is dropping too low to about 11 volts then they shut off. The 4 batteries are fully charged & load test good. I was wondering if anyone has tried using 2, 6 volts or 2, 8 volts in series and how they work. Can a kx1200.1 handle 16 volts or 18 volts?
Thanks Kevin

somethings wrong with you have 4 batteries and your voltage drops that low. Is this for daily or just comp. I highly doubt a stock 1200.1 will take 16+ volts and I would only do 16+ volts if it is for comps only and the amp is fully modded

what dave said....
I have the overvoltage protect out of mine and they still don't like anything over 17.3. If you are looking for it as a daily system, I would try to run a 14v system....

what kind of an ohm load are you running the strapped pair at? is your signiture accurate as far as equipment? if so, why are you running them strapped on four subs? why not just a pair of subs on each amp?

Hey scoupen whats up, I was just wondering how much more power you got out of thses amps at 17volts. Also can you starp them into duel 1ohm coils.

Thanks, DuWayne

I am running the amps at a 1 ohm load then once strapped goes to a 2 ohm load. I would have the wrong impedence if I ran the subs in two pairs. Dave suggested running a 8 volt & 6 volt battery to runn at 14volts sounds good.

Hey Dave, I know my voltage is dropping to far and that can't be normal. I have a long power cable. It goes from the batteries straight to a battery selector then has a 3/0 cable about 4 feet long to a 650amp buss bar then branches into 3 1/0 cables that are 12 feet long straight to the amps. Do you see a problem with this? total cable length is about 16 feet.
Thanks Kevin
