As some of you might remember, I've owned two 2000 PH-D2's that ;iterally fried at 4 ohms. I have completely lost all my trust on this amp and sworn not to use it again.. ever.
Well time passed by and now I need an amp that can do 2KW @ 2 ohms-- and there's someone on Marketplace selling 2002 D2's for a reasonable price!

Should I put back my trust on them? what did they changed from 2000 to 2002 models? Are the 2002 models more reliable now?

If you're using a D2-- what year model and how long have you been using it?
Thanks

the 2000 models are stronger..but d2's only do around 1600@2ohms..not 2k. I personally myself would probably never buy a D2 because of the unreliability. 350 down the drain when it up and quits for no reason [Frown]

Yup, I am another one that has had them and won't ever put them back in my truck. I also have a EQ 4ch. has yet to run properly since I have bought it, and it has been in to EQ for repairs, and I seriously don't think that they did anything, cause it still don't work at all. I wouldn't trust them again. I would seriously consider another amp. I have a JBL bp1200.1 and it's awesome. There's very little output difference from when I was running a D2 to the 15, and the JBL is definately a lot cleaner and tighter bass than the D2. 1400 vs. 1800? For the money that you save on the JBL, it's more than worth it, and that's less than a dB in real output difference, plus the JBL is 100x more reliable.

Hey Sepp, it's me.
Try the 2002 D2's, they rock!
You saw what I did w/ 1 at 1/2 ohm for 30 seconds at the Summer Truck Jamboree, 162.8dB,159.6dB and 159.7dB w/ 2 12"S.
You saw it too. [Eek!]

I have, have, HAD 2 2000 D2's. One basically blew up with nothing on, the other is still kicking azz! Not very good customer service, unless your "special" [Smile] , from my experiences. Otherwise it's truley a very good amp, if taken care of properly.

I've ran a pair of 2000 D2s at 4,2,1.5,1, and .67 ohms nonimal each and haven't had any problems, but I'm probably lucky. I got rid of them, because I didn't want to deal with the company, and would rather support a company who actually cares about their customers, so I won't ever be going back either.

To add to Jay Gold's comments- I now have JBL BP1200.1s and really they don't put out that much less than the D2s. On the same subs in my car, running around 2 ohms nominal, they are very close, but the D2 will kill the JBL below 1 ohm. So, if you are going for pure SPL, the D2 may be your ticket, but for daily I also reccomend the JBL1200.1 over the D2. For a good 2kw amp, look to spend a few more bucks on something like a Zapco 9.0, DD 9501, US 2000X, Viper 2500D, Memphis Mojo, or Crossfire VR2000D.
