I just read something about the new 2001 model D2's being more powerful than the previous year's model, but yet they are still rated the same (2000w rms@2ohm) I'm not quite sure I follow, other people say that they just changed the amp's cosmetics and left the guts the same as previous models. Also, I am considering one of these amps for next year's season. It would have to double as a daily driving amp though, if the gains were turned down considerably would this be an OK daily driving amp? Any information on this is greatly appreciated..

These amps are very good and powerful amps. The '01 did get a make over, but I believe the rest is still the same, with a couple added features. This amp will work fine for a daily driver too. I would recommend a seperate x/over for daily use, cause the one on the amp isn't that good, atleast not on the '00 My HU has a x/over and it works just fine, sounds great.

I would also like to compete in street 1-2 class next year, is this amp okay with a stock alt. and an upgraded interstate battery?

Lets say I have 130 amp alternator, 1100 ca battery, and 2 awg alt. cable, power wire, and ground, will I be okay for every day driving? Would a cap be necessary? I just want to know if it would be a wise purchase, as a street 1-2 competitor..

The D2 is in no doubt in my mind the best street amp u can buy...its efficient and very powerful....I run 2 D2s on my stock 2000toyota 90a alt(already killed 1 alternator)...and they kick ass...but i have a huge voltage drop ..but who cares....I love my D2s and wouldn't trade them for anything

where is this 3 k watts coming from. the book does say a requirement of an extra battery and to run a cap and also to upgrade the under the hood wiring. lol...

is it really that necessary to have fuses in line with your speaker terminals.

The power on both of them pretty much the same. The 2000 model look better than 2001.
