This is my FIANL amp question for awhile (anyways ). I'd just like to say thanks to everyone for the help and advice, but I do have one more question I'd like to have tossed around. The phoinex gold xs amp's: How are they? How do they stack up to other amps in their price range? How powerful are they really (like MAX power they'll kick out)? Namely the xs2500. Are they more often used for SQ or SPL, and what are their real strenghts/weaknesses?

Well the PG xs series amps are verry good amps as for the price range we'll say the 2500, its retail is $470 it is 500x1 watts and at a dollar a watt is a decent as for other amps you can get about the same power for the price... The xs series will probably be use for SQ more than Spl mainly because most people want a more powerfull amp for SPL like the zx or ms series... The
other xs series amps are the xs 6600 which is a 6 channel amp rated at 45x4 75x2 or 200x2 300x1,,, the 2300 is 75x2 or 300x1,,, the 4600 is 75x4 or 300x2,,, 2200is 50x2 or 200x1...... I think that is all the xs series amps, as for strengths and weeknesses I really don't know any weeknesses , as for strengths they are PG which is one of the best.........

Thanks! Another question I have though is how much power can you really squeeze out of a xs2500, like when It's bridged down to 2 ohm. Any idea of how much it will max out at? Thanks again!

Well thats great !!!! my answer would be about 1000watts maby a little more though but don't try to bridge it below 2 ohms for too long the circuitry can't handle it......

i don't know if the xs2500 will put out 1000 watts.. but I know it's alot, a friend of mine swapped out his ZPA0.5 out for one of my xs2500's and he went UP in spl.. (here's the conditions) solid 13.5V bat voltage, line driver, 1.3 ohm mono load.. tested on the same meter (different days though)
I ran one of my xs2500's at 1 ohm mono.. (I blew the output mosfets after awhile) but while it worked it was DAMN loud.. I put in the ZPA and didn't notice a difference in SPL, I didn't have it metered though so it's purly subjective.. personally I like the xs2500.. and if there was a way I could hook 4 or more of them to my DD I'd keep them, but i need more power to a pair of voice coils so xs isn't the way to go. personally for the price I'd recomend them to anyone, they sound pretty good, lots of power, and very reliable (unless you abuse them like I did)

hey.. thanks for backin me up merlin.. hehe ya i know I abuse my stuff.. i always tell people don't run it at that load it'll blow up, don't do this don't do that it'll blow.. appears i don't follow my own rules.. ohhh well, I'm good at fixing them now.. I blame DD.. they put dual 2 ohm coils on it.. they were obviosly designed to be paralleled to 1 ohm and bridged off your amp (that might not be stable) hehe ahh well i still love the xs when i get new amps I'll still play with them, maybe make the first xs stable into 1 ohm or less
