I'm sure this is common fodder, but I have a bridgeing question. Lets say I have an 2 ohm stable amp. when bridged, it kicks out 8oo (RMS) watts into a 4 ohm mono load. So, lets say I have two 4 ohm subs, and I want to wire them to this bridged amp. IF i wire them in paralle, then the amp would have a 2 ohm load (right?), which would mean the amp would be wanting to kick out 1600 watts? Wouldn't this turn the amp into a flaming pyle of goo? Or am I way off. In which case, would I have to wire the subs in series for an 8 ohm load, and in which case would the wattage be 400? and In the end, would I just be better off getting dvc's and saving myself the headache of long division? (whew, I hope this made sense to someone)

Do you mean the amp is stable to 2 ohm stereo or 2 ohm bridged? If it is 2 ohm stable stereo, don't put a two ohm load on it in bridged mode. The amp will probably burn up or keep going in to protection. Either put the subs in series (8 ohm) bridged or one on each channel, 4 ohm stereo, or put both of them in paralle (2 ohm) on one channel. If the amp is 2 ohm stable bridged, go ahead and hook the subs up in bridged mode. Unless it is a very powerful amp it probably won't double the power.
