I have three Rockford Punch DVC's 10" wired parallel to a punch power 50.1. on the sheet that came with the amp says it does 322 watts @2ohms @14v. now i figure my amp is running @ about .6ohms bridged since its a mono amp. the voltage in my car is anywhere from 13.9 to 14.2 volts. now my question is how many watts does each sub get approx.? now the rule of thumb is that when you decrease the load by half that you double the power, so i figure that my amp puts out around 1000 watts? right?

1000 seems a little high to me. Check the powercube for it (should be somewhere on the box or manuals) and see what it says at 1 ohm (the powercube is a 3D plot of power vs ohm vs phase). Then I would add a little too that. I would guess 750-800. Amps are not ideally efficient and don't always double their power into a lower resistance. You will reach a peak somewhere.

I would concur with shedluv, you are definately not quite into the thousand range.. You could always test the output voltage and that would give you a decent guesstimation of your power output (you can assume the impedance to be .666 ohms, although those subs don't go under 2.5 over their whole operating range, so its a little closer to .8 ohms)

They are a nice amp, though.. Wish I had a couple of them for toy value.

The 50 series of amps hits the wall between 500 and 600 watts anywhere below 1 ohm. At this point the rails sag and you will stay around that mark no matter how low you go.

Actually.... a little birdie told me once how to get an extra 20-25% out of an RF amp with a simple modification. Of course I was sworn to secrecy and since I forget now it seems relatively safe!

i don;t know about getting that amp to do more than 3x's its output thats kinda freaky. u will get about 600-800 out of it and i highly suggest u putting fans on the gills of the amp and run the pos to the remote wire and hook it up like that because that amp will hit the automatic turn off stage when it over heats.true rms willbe about 500 or so at 2/3 an ohm peak will be 700 maybe a lil more at 14 volts

how to test ur output on a dmm(digital multimeter) ac voltage ur reading squared divided by impedence so if u get a 25 volt reading square it so it is 625 then divide it by 2/3's which would be 937.5 then multiply that by .707 and u got ur rms at that voltage which will be 662.8 watts rms i do have a friend selling 250.1's for like 400-500 each shipped his name is lazysenor@aol.com (name is brian tell him the jarfunkz sent u)no i do not get anything but u being happy

if u want to beef up ur amp really simply just go to radio shack and get the biggest diodes u see there and then right infront of the input stage switch out the diodes of the amp so they can handle more current so get like 4 diodes and ther are about 3-4 in that amp look for all the diodes(they are black) and u won;t have to worry as much about it blowing because first thing that goes first is the diode 99%of them time.

well i got the second 50.1 and wow what a really big difference. now all i need is a couple more caps, i have a 1 farad LA cap but it is not enough now with the two 50.1 brigded. jarfunkz- i have one fan cooling one of the 50.1's i haven't put one on the second amp. I have one ? for somebody when i'm listening at a pretty high volume it sounds like my subs stop playing for a real quick second then they play again. It sounds like as if the cd skipped but my front speakers still play the music. it only happens at certain freq.'s are my amps clipping? what does it sound like when an amp clips
