Accordion surrounds are used in Stage monitors, Portable Speakers, bass/guitar amps, and so on. These type of speakers are are extremely efficent.

the surround is made from a laminated cloth material the has three or four small rolls in it... like a ripple in a wave and they are not very tall... very stiff and are more common on PA stuff like mentioned before... I was not sure if they would ever work well enough for SPL but as long as it keeps control over the sub that is all that counts...

I don't think the strokers have an accordion surround. In fact, the spider on top of voice coil moves the cone outward while at the same time, it mantains the voice coil linear. This is my IMO. Posts: 110 | From: ca | Registered: Sep 2000

There is actually a car sub that has a accordion surround. I don't know what company makes them, but its use for competition. Its not the Vegas. Although, Vegas have a "accordion" type surrounds, its not actually a accordion. I think the way the Vegas surrounds are design are two small half-rounded foam connected to each other. JBL 1000 watt subs yeah! There has been a lot of car subs with ribbed cones and accordian surrounds but not for SPL... the regular CV is not accordian it is like mentioned before two small rolls made out of foam... and if that is not an accordian surround on a Stroker you tell me what it is because it looks and feels just like an accordian surround... to me it looks like a cloth with a few rolls that is laminated and is that what we all consider an accordion edge surround... hehehehe

Wow, I've never noticed that on strokers before due to the dark surrounds, but yes, looks like it. They did have some sort of PA origins though. Colin
