I use a 909 that I'm always happy with, this is a different unit.No internal amp. 3 rca outputs. front rear and non fading. Why pay for an amp never to be used? Invest that cash into better electronics.
But any way , the whole Excelon line is pretty good.

Well I didnt own that Clarion Pro Audio unit but I did own a 9175. A few years back. I was VERY happy with that unit. Performed very well. I have heard people say they skip. I didnt have problem once durning normal driving. They did have a problem with the lights in the face burning out but it was covered under warrenty. Other then that I LOVED the unit. I like the look of the kenwood but dont know enough about it to comment on that....

I to owned the 9175 ProAudio and last year got the KDC-8009. I found even though it was not the Excelon line it still was much better sound than the Clarion. Then late in the year I got the PS909 Excelon piece. I was very impressed with the improvment in SQ just from switching decks. I sell Kenwood and last year the only difference between the 8009 and the PS909 is the DA converter, It is completely different than any other deck in the line.
I would definetly spend the extra on the X911 for SQ.

Hope this helps,
James Hellermann

Is there any difference in SQ between Clarion Pro Audio series, say 6575 to 9575. Is there anything different inside the unit to cause a difference in SQ: transport, laser pickup, Dac, preamp section design, etc.

Or in any other Companies high end head units top 2 or three models in.

I've never investigated this, but always suspected that once you get to a companies high end units, the difference in the top 2 or 3 are features, marketing, and profit.

Although perhaps Clarions highest end model above the 9575z might have different innards that make a difference to SQ.
