Yeah, I read they shipped like 500,000 units instead of the original 2,000,000. One question on my mind though: why A/V equipment in a car? I just don't get it....but I plan to buy one sometime next year when it has died down a little. I think if I even attempted to go to any store today, I would get glocked for looking at it.....

Of course there is. With the first release there is sure to be. Wait a short while when the stores over stock and there will be a number left over. Look at Dreamcast. Already at a $150 price.
I want one REAL bad cause my PSX crapped out on me but I will wait till xmas of just after to get one. I may or may not save money. But I am sure to not have to worry about going from store to store to get one:-)

they can't produce them fast enough. something about a postproduction F-up with oun of the chips, so they had to go back and redesign the chip and they fell way behind with production of the unit.
dirty buggers didn't send us any, we were supposed to get 3000units in on monday, but they never shipped them. i guess sony dislikes up more than i though
the system is pretty amazing. a few things i didn't like were that some of the images appear ever so slightly blurry, and there was alot of noticable aliasing (jaggy edges) but damn does it ever look amazing and run smoother than i could have ever amagined. i was playing football on it the other day, i could see reflections and shine on the guy's helmets. the snowboarding game kinda pissed me off cause the boards are constantly blending through the snow. you know like when you get your guy up near a wall and he sort blends through it at certain angles. hav'nt tried the DVD out yet, but it hopefully won't disappoint.

How much do they retail for? On Ebay people are bidding around 700 dollars for them, I'm perfectly happy with my 99 dollar regular playstation and an extra 700 bucks in my bank.

All is can say is it is a awesome system. I picked mine up, of course it doesn't hurt that I have a close friend who manages the electronices department at our Kmart. Nothing like a guaranteed machine for a 10% discount.

Like I said I will wait and they will be out there in numbers and easily available. I waiting in line when Nintendo 64 came out. It was kewl but not worth the wait.

ITS A FREAKING VIDEO GAME.. whoever pays 700 bucks for it needs to be kicked in the head.. and as for the DVD player.. just buy a friggin DVD player already!! If you like good graphics and great gameplay.. get a dreamcast, great graphics, good play, only 150 bucks, can be had anywhere..

I am with pro Audio I will just wait till early spring to get one. Then they will be a 100 bucks . plus what happened is the compane that made the graphic chip for the DVD part Closed up and went out of business on PS. After they made like 7,000,000 total. So they had to get another companiy to start suppling them. At list that is what they said in Gamers Mag.

one of my freinds is waiting at kmart right now waiting for the truck to come in with the playstations on them. they are only getting like 5-10 of them...he is going to camp at k mart for as long as it takes!! hes already been there since 6 am this morning now its almost 4 pm!!!!!!! crazy!!!! just wait a few weeks until the price drops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sold my spot in line at Best Buy this morning for $1200 cash! New components for Alex hehe. I'm getting one from my friend who is front end manager at comp usa for employee price tomorrow.

Sega's Dreamcast only does about 8 million polygons per second, while the Playstation 2 does up to 75 million max, and 25 million with every single effect enabled. Although, I'm going to get a Nvidia GeForce2 GTS-Ultra based video card in a few weeks, which will do 31 million polys with all effects (evil laugh)

ps2 is superior to dc in every way (hey i even own a dc so i'm not biased)
$299 for it is a steal
it's going for $700 on ebay because people want the damn thing NOW and it's sold out everythere
dante is right...the ps2 is even more powerful than the most powerful arcade machine.
oh, and the ps2 has TTT (tekken tag tournament) i absoulutely LOVE that game.
