I'm installing amp and head unit today. Wondering about grounding. Put in new battery 4g ground. Just doing 4g amp ground 12" from amp. Is it best for head unit, and other items like electronic cross over, Line driver, Eq, to be led to same ground point as amp. Even if it's 4-6 ft. If not, what is best.

Thanks. Tunes thru old factory speakers, and great deck and amp soon :-)

I would ground everything in the trunk to one spot. Don't worry about your head unit, just ground it where available.

Well, my current system has 4g leading from my distribution block to underneath my center console (about 14 inches total) where there's a big fat factory bolt going into solid steel beam. Originally I had the deck operating with it's own ground but there was an alternator whine(or at least the pitch/sound coincided with engine RPM).
Then I beefed up the head grnd wire to 10 gauge and connected it with the amp grounding point and voila!, all better. I am one happy camper.

True One Point grounding can eliminate noises sometimes. However most of the time it is not required.
