Guess what i got??? yesterday i bought a sony xplod' 10" sub, for $30. Nope,i am not gonna actually use it, but i jsut bought it to beat the hell out of, ya know, hte usual, overpowering, pushing the volume as far as i can go, turning the bass all the way up, seeing how much it can move, ya know the usual. I might actually consider using it, but they sound like a$$ if you turn em up past halfway, they really blow, i have blown off the middle dustcap part that says xplod' like three times, its pretty cool, god i love torture testing subs. Well, by now your thinking "what a dumb post" right?! ya i know, just thought i would share my latest purchase?! I guess i do have a question though, got any cool ideas on what to do with it? like torture wise? besides plugging it into a socket or lighting it on fire, somnething were it will still owrk but saomething cool to do. thanx, M@tthew

How about making a sealed box out of a light material. Turn the box up-side-down so that the woofer is facing the floor. Use bondo, fibre-glass, or any other light product to form a cabin. Form the cabin in the shape of a air-ship. Place a G.I.Joe in the drivers seat. Use a remote radio, amplifier, and battery to supply the woofer with sound. See if the air-ship will lift off the ground by using soundwaves.
This is something my nephew asked me to do last year...never did so...but would be cool to see something of this nature at finals...Good Luck

How about trying to play it underwater? that might look cool!

how about experimenting with box designs for it, and see if you can make it do a good #, instead of trashing it in the typical, and EASY ways that you've been doing. hehe
As you said though, there are bass hungry kids in china....
Seriously, just play around with that sub, and see what it can do, you may surprise yourself. THEN torch it or something. Run it over with your car, anything...

ok, I've actually bean planning this for a lont time. sort of like a strange and in humane torture [for a person, that is…]
ok, you take a big spike or nail say about 10" long, and fix it to the dustcap w/ duck tape, or whatever. then you mount the woofer like this: _ _/ | | | |________ |_| | \_|
ok, then you chain someone to a wall, and slide the box up so the spike is right in front of their face/nuts/mid-section/whatever. ok, now it's simple. you ask whatever about their government's secrets, and when they don't talk, you start to turn up the volume. at first it wont pierce the skin, just scare 'em a bit. then you turn it up a bit more…
you get what I'm saying. it'd be great w/ a driver w/ like 2" of excursion, you could really put some holes in 'em then…

well, i currently have it in this strange TL/slot port/medium ported box, kinda weird, it sounds ok, like facing the wall, soit may be a possible home theater sub, eh, probabbly not, maybe i will jsut be a good person and give it away to the bass hungry children in china,hmmm..........let's think....NO! (i am a kinda greedy bastard ) But i like the underwater idea, but, won't that fry the amp, because the power from the terminals will go through the water to the other terminal and it will fry?????? I think so?! anyways i am seriously considering doing a box made of legos. hehehe..... Uhhhhh.......what was my other idea,.....hmmm........ well, i would like to see how many times i can run it over with it playing, and see how long it lasts, i was thinking of maybe trying some enclosures with it, i just can't come up with any original ideas, otherwiase i would have already, thanx, for all hte ideas, any more????!!! thanx, M@tthew

Take a high power signal generator and set the DC offset high enough that it forces the cone out to full excursion. Then pound the sub with some high-powered 60Hz signals
See if you can stretch the cone material a little bit LOL
Ryanmalone - that's too hilarious. Better not let anyone in the middle east see that!

just throw the sub face down in water.. keep the wires out of course.. or.. make a sealed box.. fill it w/ water, mount the sub face down and make a little 1/2" port in the box =).. then whenever the sub hits.. water squirts out .. hehee.. it'd be like those cool fountains. use neons and stuff to make the water glow as it shoots out. now THAT would be a cool home theater sub..
