My friend has a tempo with 3 type S 10's in a false floor that is done really ****ty. Basically he put a piece of wood over the trunk floor and put the subs in the tirewell. The box is sealed (well its supposed to be) running off of a JBL 1200.1 with a weak electrical system.

I have a single tempest in 7.8 cu ft tuned to about 20 hz box getting about 400 rms from an alpine v12 for now. My electrical systems hasnt been upgraded but will be this week. In my thunderbird i have a stock 65 amp alternator but i have a spare 65 amp alt so i might try to add the second one for free, or get the 65 amp alt re wound into about a 120 amp or so.

My question is who would hit higher SPL wise?? We're both sedans, and my car is an old (1980) tbird so its not one of the newer ones with notoriously bad acoustics.

thanks for your time

if you would tune yours to like 38hz it would easily beat him...why are you tuned to 20hz...thats ridiculously low man.

i tuned low for SQ, im in the process of making a smaller box that is tuned to 49 hz but if i plug one of the ports its tuned to 34 hz. I have left over wood so i figured i might as well make this box for when i get metered until i can get my own JBL 1200.1 and my other tempest

i know ideally the type S's would win with that many watts compared to my smaller watts but my box is made as close to perfection as possible and his "false floor" is not even close to being a box, basically his subs are free air
