A guy wants my help uninstalling his old alarm from his car. He doens't like the alarm anymore, and wants to take it out and later down the road replace it with another one.
Question: If i just unhooked the wire harness from the alarm brain, would it be fien and not cause any problems? Or would I have to go about unsoldering or un crimping all the wires that were tapped into the stock wires.

Cause if I could, just uninstall the alarm brain and take the moduel out of the car, and leave the alarm harness and plug in the car, down the road all the wires would be already spliced into the stock wires, and all he would have to do is cut the wires off the plug and splice them into the new unit, because most brains do the same thing right.

if you are planning on installing a newer alarm, i would remove the wires to the old alarm. If you do not know what you are doing, you could possibly set off the airbag system in the vehicle ( runs about $600+ depending on car ).
if you are going to do it yourself, FIRST UNHOOK THE BATTERY.if the wires are soldered on to the factory wires ( as they should be) then cut the alarm wires as close as possible, then cover the wire with a good quality electrical tape. and you should be fine.
but if there is any doubt in your abilities, or a friend heling you.. take it to your local shop and ask them how much they would charge to remove it for you. it shouldn't be more than $50, besides.. you can do both at once, have them remove the old alarm, and install the new one.

Yeh battery is a good idea )

For now I will just unhook the alarm brain, then down the road he can use the wires already cause they have been patched into the stock wires.

Better find out what kind of started kill is in there. Wheather its a NO or a NC. Cause if its NO and you pull the brain, your car wont start.
