I bought one of these brand new on ebay for $70 shipped. It's a 4 band parametric EQ/line driver w/sub crossover. I've never used a processor of this kind, but thought I would try this one because I got it cheap and it has 10V preamp outputs. Well, to put it mildly, I'm very disappointed. I should have left my system alone. It sounds FAR better with just the 4 volts from the HU and NO outboard EQ. Without the processing the system is so clean and open sounding. With the EQ/line driver it sounds dead, lifeless, PROCESSED POORLY. I spent many hours adjusting and experimenting with settings. I just think this kind of sound is not for me. Anyone have similar experiences?

actually i found that particular piece to be more usefull than a comparable clarian we tried along side it. Don't know why it didn't improve your system, there isn't a system out there imo that can't benifit from a little eq, maybe the soundstream piece is placing the eq where you don't neet it?

I was confident when I bought the piece that it was of high enough quality to not be a detriment to my system. Maybe I was wrong. I'm using Linear Power amps with old school, high end a/d/s components. They are pretty good. Sometimes I think too much, and sometimes the search for a little bit more SQ is a disappointment. But that's what the search is all about, I guess. Not every addition to a system is an "upgrade".
