I have trouble getting bass in my F150 truck, but my wife won't let me install sub woofers in it. A guy at an AL&ED'S store in Hollywood CA told me about a new box called Maxxbass that makes little speakers sound like big speakers, he said that it will make your door speakers emulate sub woofer performance. Does anybody here know anything about this product.

If you have a nice set of 6.5" mids in your doors and the doors are dampened and sealed 101% properly , the MaxxBass does it's job VERY well .. Otherwise , skip it ..

The MaxxBass processor actually came out a few years ago and used by professional studio engineers to make small(and owned by the majority) speakers reproduce bass, it works by making speakers reproduce the fundmentals of a single bass note instead of the original, thus creating the presence of deep bass while reducing excursion. You know the song "Mulan Rouge" by Lil Kim and three other girls? That song was processed by MaxxBass. I had a few email exchanges with the developer and they said they are aiming more towards premium stock car stereo and factory speakers in TVs and such, and it doesn't make more SPL if you have a real subwoofer in your system.
So my conclusion is that MaxxBass are for bass-wannabes, or to keep your marriage

Dude, you're not ashamed to post that your wife won't let you install a sub in the truck? THAT'S THE REAL PROBLEM, I can see who wears the pants!

if you want to feel the bass then you can buy these, i think there called bass shakers. it a big motor like the ones they use in ps2 contollers to vibrate them only bigger. you bolt these to your seat. and it will shake when it hits the bass. they sell them for home theaters and tihs but i have heard of them for cars. look into that.
if you want to hear it well your just gonna have to beg your wife to let you put woofers.

(As a studio owner) i use to have a maxxbass 101 in my studio. i still have it.. its sitting in a closet. it doesn't get used anymore. it was a part of my inhouse mastering setup. when an artist came to me to master their song and the song was lacking low end and i didn't feel like eqing the track, i'd run it through the maxxbass plugin on the hardware unit i have. these days i have other ways so the maxxbass just collects dust, a waist of $245 the only thing i still use hardware wise is my L2.. but i've been using the L3 plug a little more over the last few weeks and Rbass is much better but there isn't a hardware unit, just the plug. i'd never even think of putting a maxxbass in a car just get a epicenter or something like

the epicenter would only work if he had a sub,, but without a sub the maxxbass will give him the illusion that there is a sub in the car when there isnt,, and the mids dont have to work overtime to produce this illusion either.. sounds like a great idea,,, something i would like to do in my family car with a set of 3way components.. i just dont know how WELL it will work..

like i said i own a studio and i have the unit. its not worth using in a car. you could find something else that could do the same thing i'm sure
