I need to deter the peaks a bit in some of my music. do they make any for car audio? I dont want to ghetto rig a rackmount processor to achieve a simple goal...

is it like "compression." the stock Ford CD player that came in my mustang had that. it would even out the peaks and lows.

I never used it unless I had the volume really low.

Yes it is...funny how a stock CD will have it but no aftermarket ones...

Well, it ruins the dynamics of the music, so that's why none have it. Just out of curiosity, why do you want such a unit?

Because I can't power my stereo fully at the moment and if I am listening to it loud and a real low or loud note comes in my amp shuts off from massive voltage drops. Until i upgrade alternator and power wire i wanted do something so i don't have to memomrize the peaks in my music and turn it down real quick before the peak hits and shuts my system down...
