i just bought a coustic xm-1e two way crossover for my car. before i put this in i had a old profile 5 way unit. my problem is this when i first installed my system i ran the 6.5" speakers off the cd player and i ran the rca to my profile 800sx. with this i had to turn my gain halfway to set the amp correctly. ok no problems there. next i got a amp for the front stage. i took my old profile crossover and installed it. once again the gains ended up on half way. well i left my gains alone and put in the coustic and for some reason the system maxed out faster????i have been told that a crossover will not boost the output voltage but in my specs for the coustic it says it will put out 6v max.in the specs it also has a spec for input/output gain(+6db) does this mean that my coustic is really putting out 3v to each output??? the input/output spec doesn't make sense to me since there is no boost button on the crossover i need all the input you give me on this problem thanks to all Posts: 133 | From: half past a monkey's ........ | Registered: Feb 2002

The +6db gain means that the signal is boosted alot (if you haven't adjusted other gains to compensate) just turn the gains down on the amp and your set.
