I've had a few different eqs in my day. and I always ended up just running it in defeat/bypass or setting it flat....my advice for an everyday eq, would be one of those 3-5 band 1/2 din eqs. they pretty much target the main areas and it's all ya really need. The Alpine G190 is an excellent unit with subwoofer eq/xover/eq. the audiocontrol three.1 and four.1 are very good. I personally own a ppi peq114 4 band eq/line driver/master volume control, and I love it!!

add-ons that will give you more bass....PG bass cube, audiocontrol epicenter are designed to increase subwoofer level. the alpine G190 does an excellent job. I'm sure there are others but my mind is drawing a blank. want more bass....port your box!

those power wedges do pretty well. You may just need a little more control of your bass. find an electronic xover with an external bass control, mtx makes a few like that, so does coustic, PG, and a bunch of others. You'll be able to add that extra punch when you need it.

Bah, forget the EQ unless you do RTA and SQ comps.

If you really want some control, I highly recommend the Coustic CD-7 http://www.coustic.com/eq7.cfm in-dash pre amp. Very nice and loaded with features.
