i got a new KDC-715s, and when i got my subs back in the damn thing skips bad. I was doing 150's before, and it is certainly much louder now, but i didn't have a chance to meter it yet. is this s common kenwood thing? what deck will be ok? any opinions on coustic decks, i hear they are great for skipping.

I have a friend using a lower model kenwood, kdc-3011 or something like that, hes doing low-mid 140's and he has never had a problem with it. I'm using an Eclipse 5303r and I havent had a problem with mid 140's. I'm not to sure about coustic decks, havent heard much about em.

absolutely.. i have a friend that has had horrible experience with kenwood cd players. he has (hehehe...) 2 15" rf's and an mtx thunder 250x amp, and about a month after he put his subs in his car, the cd player started skippin bad... then he got a new car and we put his cd player in there, and hooked it up and gave it a test run without the rest of the system.. well sitting there idling with no subs the cd player was skipping bad on a good cd.. i think it's becuase a loose connection formed between the face plate and the deck... haven't heard of any problems with the higher end decks though

I have a Kenwood KDC-6011, one of Kenwoods mid line units. I think its the 2nd best entry level unit. I've had this thing in 3 systems, it never skipped unless there was a bad CD in the player. It even played skip free in a friends car that did a 151.3. The only problem ive had is the face not connecting right and sometimes get a rather wild display from the bad connection. All that happens is the original CD time fades in and out with something like a fire works display, but the Cd still kept playing with out a skip. So, i for one, has never had a skipping problem with a Kenwood CD player Head Unit.

i do have a lot of scratched CD's, but still...it's terrible. I had a JVC El Kameleon, and i gotta say the thing gave me a lot of trouble, but it NEVER ONCE SKIPPED in the year that i had it, not a single time. i had some CD's that my freakin new home CD player wont play well and that JVC played them great.
