Honestly, if you had 1000-2000 to spend on a HU would you be fiddling around with all this cheap brands? You have go to step up to McIntosh. Classy, easy to use, and a top notch HU.

Tell him to look long and hard at the Sony C-90. They fixed a lot of the problems they were having with the C910 and made even more improvements. Overall its probably the best unit on the market right now as far as a total package, i.e. Multimedia, Awesome DAC's, cosmetics, functionality, etc. Good luck on the shopping.
