What's everyone's opinion on this headunit. It's only 300 right now at Crutchfield.
I'm running a sq setup with all external processors. I don't need MP3 support, screensavers, tone controls, sub controls. Essentially all I want is tuner and cd player that will read CD-R's.
Is there anything else in it's price range that can touch it for SQ?
What else should I look for that falls in the $500 price range for a SQ headunit?
There's a link to the unit. Others I was considering include the Nak 45Z, but am worried about CDR's, and the Eclipse 5442

The HX-D10 is really nice. $300 for it is an absolute steal in my opinion. I prefer Eclipse decks but the CD5442 would be more expensive than the Clarion. If you need to stay as close to $300 as possible, you could check out a cheaper eclipse as well(sq is fantastic on all of them in my opinion) or just go with the clarion. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thanks
i am quite happy with my hx-d10 but i have to question their 4v ratings due to the fact that i seemingly got a stronger signal off my older alpine 7861, which is only a 2v. model.
but realistically, i noticed a ton of differences in the way my whole system sounded- more transparent, the highs were less aggressive, the 3 band parametric eq works just great. simple, yet very effective headunit. also purchased mines from crutchfield a while back.
good luck.
