I have a pioneer DEH-46hd installed. And at any volume over 19 the speakers begin to clip. I thought that i was just over powering the factory speakers. So i went out and bought some pioneer 6 1/2 woofers and the same thing happens. I am thinking that i am going to need to replace the head unit. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't think that speakers begin to clip. I think that your radio clips, so go and try it with an amplifier which have more power than the radio-amp. Hope this helps.

Amps will resolve the head unit clippin. External amps take thier own power source and lessen the drain on the head unit.

The built in amp will start to clip around there. The RCAs remain cleaner up to around 27 or so...

Just to clarify
The head unit was not the problem.. You were turning it up to a level that the poor internal amp couldnt take any more of.
