I am looking for recommendations for good-very good double din units that have both CD and cassette with no changer. Its going in a Volvo 850 and I'll have very good speakers and a seperate good amp, about 4x40-50. Thank you.

Any particular reason you'd prefer a tape and cd? Unless you are strongly set on keeping your tapes; cd recorders are becoming less and less expensive and are soon to be more accessable. But if you are determined on having both Pioneer, Panasonic, Alpine, Clarion, Jensen and a few other brands make nice units. JVC and Sony seem to have the two most inexpensive model when comparing quality pieces. If price isn't a problem I would a choose either the pioneer or alpine for overall quality and dependability.

Thank you for your suggestions. I regarding my choice for a double din CD & cassette choice I have 2 reasons: the stock unit is double din so the new one will fit better without a big piece of black plastic and most importantly I listen to many tape series for learning and inspiration in addtion to CDs for pure pleasure.

Go to http://www.crutchfield.com and check out their double din pioneer. I looks awesome, has both cd and cass, and has a motorized face. It cost $1,000, but you sound like you can afford it.

Thank you for your suggestions. I'm going with the Pioneer 404 double din which sells for around $500. I didn't see the need for the $1000 unit.
