Does anybody know of a HU that will work with the factory steering wheel controls in my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee? I have my factory deck because I like being able to change tracks and volume from the steering wheel but I like other HUs way better than the factory one. Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply. I have heard about interfaces that somehow make your factory controls work via infrared remotes. I have not seen this for my jeep though. I am not really looking to destroy the wiring that i have now too much but rather want a pulg in and go solution if one exists.

Thanks again.

I got a note from a Termpro reader (George) on this today. It seems there is a company called Soundgate that makes an intrface called the remote1. It does exactly what I need it to do. Check this out!:
www.soundgate.com/remote1.html

I also called the Illinois/Chicago rep for Soundgate. His name is Frank Malitz and he is awesome to talk to about interfacing. Email me if you want his number or check out the soundgate website.

Thanks so much George.

Thanks bassheadb2.
WWW.go2pac.com also makes them. They have good instructions (.pdf files) for many of the installs and theirs works with about any brand of HU that has a IR remote control. They even have instructions that you can use to check to see if a model works with a HU before you buy it. You take the PAC interface into the store with you and hook it to a 9-volt battery. If it works with teh HU remote then you know it is safe to buy that HU.

I am thinking maybe Eclipse or Alpine for my HU.
