everyone told me how good the P7200's tuner was, and every other one i've heard does...but mine bites....my antenna was bent pretty bad at one time, and i straightened it out, but could this affect it?

For an antenna to function properly, it needs a good ground plane. I would check the resistance of the shield on the antenna end to ground (should be 0). IF there is very noticeable resistance measurement, I would check the antenna mount for damage, and to see if it is loose. If all checks out there I would check the ground to the panel the antenna is mounted on. Sometimes fenders and so forth don't have a good ground for one reason or another. IF all checks out, I would have the radio tested, or replaced, if you can.
