The reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to fabricate a cable that will connect the detachable faceplate of my CQ-DFX701U to the main unit. I already have the male and female connectors from the back of the faceplate and on the main unit, but I don't want to open up the faceplate and chance breaking something! I just need to know what kind of ribbn cable is used inside the main unit that connects to the female connector where the faceplate plugs in to it.

Ok, i have a CQ-DFX701. I had to take the face plate apart once because my gf decided to spill water all over it. Its very simple on the inside, nothing that you can easily break. The ribbon is a plasic ribbion with a couple wires running through it. You could technically take some small wirez and manufacture a patch cable. It wouldnt be too hard, just contacts to contacts. Anyways, The only problem i see with this is, you have to have this little button, more like a little stick thingy pushed down on the HU for the power to come on. I know this because i often forget my face on my way to a friends or whatever and will hold that thing down so itll play, you have no controls but it plays tunes!.
