a deal, well I wouldn't say a deal, but it does what its supposed to do. It doesn't skip, I had the 316s which is just up from yours. My worked well. Althoug h the volume button stuck once in a while. I dropped the face plate plenty of times and always worked. I usualy dropped it in the street. Not on pourpose. but its a decent cd player. good for a first one.

yeah I would say it is good enuf for a project. Are u going to real SQ or SPL, of just a good system. I would look in to getting a better head unit. But that one would work until you got a better one.

using y splitters degrades your signal. This is not a good thing. You can buy amps that have a aux out, sometimes they offer a crossover to the aux out and such, or you can pass on full signal. My Phoenix Gold Tantrum 300.2 has this. You can set it to LP w/ AUX to HP, lp w/ AUX to Full, or HP w/ aux to LP. There is one other one. I cant remember what it was. most PG amps offer this.

you can pick up a cheap crossover for around 75 bucks or so, and it splits your one rca into two one for subs and one for highs. i think there might be some out now that will split the signal into three crossed over ranges. such as highs, mids, lows. look on ebay or in the marketplace for something like that.

you will be fine, my first hu was an ugly, cheap sony with one preout and i ran two amps just fine.

like said before, do what you can with what you got. when the time comes for a new one you will know it.

Get amps that you can daisy-chain. Thats my 2 cents.
