Good MP3 HU for under $500, Alpine or Panasonic or Pioneer etc...???
I just want to get some comments, what kind of mp3 HU i could get under $500. Thats my future uprgade(in a couple or few or several months from now). Since some companies are making some new line for the 2003.
So i better start planning and doing some research.
Just will be a daily driver, no competition for me. Just want something decent and will tune my system good.
But a MP3 HU is definetly i want to get!
Right now i have a Panasonic HU, almost a year now, its a DF 601U i think, with the 3d display. Not one thing went wrong yet, so thats why i might be interested in a another Panasonic. But i'm hearing alot of good things for Alpine.

Here is what i'm interested in getting...

Panasonic CQ-HX2083U CD/MP3/WMA Receiver w/CD Changer Controls "Ghost Face & 3D Displays". Looks fricking awsome!

Panasonic CQ-DFX983U CD/MP3/WMA Receiver w/CD Changer Controls "Just a regular HU with 3D Displays"

Pioneer DEH-P9400MP CD/MP3 Player w/ Organic EL Display

Kenwood KDC-X959 CD/MP3/WMA Receiver w/ CD Changer Controls

Alpine CDA-7995 XM Ready In-Dash CD Player/Ai-ChangerController

Alpine CDA-7897 XM Ready In-Dash CD Player/Ai-ChangerController
I think everyone has experience with this, i want to get something different or new, i dunno....

Alpine CDA-9813 XM Ready CD/MP3/WMA Receiver/Ai-ChangerController

Alpine CDA-9815
CD/MP3/WMA Receiver with CD Changer Controls
This one looks pretty mean huh!

Thats about it what i'm interested in. I seen a picture of a new Eclipse HU Mp3 i think it is, that came out. If it is, i might look into that but probably out of my budget, eclipse is expensive! Can someone give me a link to that or a picture of it, and the price of it?

So what would be your top 2 picks if you were me!

Top one i would get is - Pioneer 940MP!

1. Alpine 9815 (7995 or 7897)?
2. Panasonic CQ-HX2083U

these are like a tie for me...lol

Pioneer 940MP has it all, Alpines i been hearing some good things about it, i like the Looks of the Pioneer. Panasonic i like the looks but not to much FEATURES!

How I see it, Panasonic is all looks no ballz. Alpine is all ballz and debatble looks. Pioneer is all balls, and ugly looks but rad graphics. I've had experience with both Pioneer and Alpine and I think that no matter which one you choose(out of your tie) you'll be a happy camper in the outcome. But biastly have to give my vote to Alpine because I love mine to death. It's really up to what you want in "looks" and display. If u want better looks, I'd go with your Pioneer.
I saw that eclips hu aswell. Looks awesome! But most likely big $$$ [Frown]

VS

As much as I like Alpine, this hu looks like it's crammed with buttons and little lights. The Pioneer looks much "sleaker".

Those Panasonic's look bad ass. What does a deck have to have for balls? Alpine aren't the end all great all. the Panasonic 983 gets my vote or maybe the clarion motorized mp3 deck. If you want balls get a Audiocontrol EQX.

deck eq's and filters and shii sucks. I think if a deck has a high snr and decent preamps and alook you can agree on I think it works.

thanks for the picture post, i notice that the alpine HU 9815 has alot of buttons on that deck...

the pioneer is just have a little ammount of buttons there

i was thinking getting the panasonic ghost face mp3 player but not to much features in it, or not to many options...

i was comparing it to the 940mp, 940mp has alot!

Eclipse's 2003 line includes 2 models that play mp3(starting at $219) and a few models(upper end) that will play mp3s when the deck is hooked up to the eclipse commander advance unit. As for the pic you saw(that would be the cd8053) and prices have been posted all over. It will cost $549 at the dealer and considering it has balanced outs(16v), dual 24 bit converters, time alignment, parametric eq and adjustable crossovers, I would put that up against any deck in its price range for overall sq(ok, and some decks that cost hundreds more). If you need mp3 with that deck, then you have to get the commander unit(which isn't cheap but it also does voice command and all of that stuff).

Sadly enough you will pay alot for a mp3 deck but not all of them are motorized. Only like Pioneer, Kenwood, Clarion and JVC have made motorized MP3 decks I think. I suggest dont buy a HU for looks. And a eclipse HU will offer you more advanced usable features then any deck. Most decks can only try so hard but suck anyway in terms of features.I still say find a cheap deck that has everything you want and doesnt skip and spend the money saved on a Audiocontrol EQX. I do not believe buying a deck over looks is a good way to go about it.You seemed to be concerned tho.
