Alpine Deck: 7894

Very nice visually but Im not sure if it has as many toning options as the Pioneer. I like the Bass Engine Plus, however, and it has alot of options to it.

Pioneer Deck: DEH-8400MP

About 160 more than the Alpine deck but there are a huge number of toning options. I really like the dual faceplate also, it also plays mp3s.

Which deck would you guys pick? Which one, do you think, is worth the money?

Pioneer is around 500, Alpine is only 375 or so

You are right. The Apline does lack the eq features. I personally do not like pioneers. I had the alpine deck your talking about, and it would be a great deck if used with an external eq. Kenwood 6042a would work nicely, but you would need an external amp also. Just an idea though.

well i have owned many pioneers and i really like them. If mp3 is not a major buying point, then i would pick up a p-9300. They can be had cheap of ebay.

my friend has that alpine and i have the 9300 and i love mine so much more. even though the 840mp does not have the 13 band eq it does have the low, mid and high adjustments which are good enough for most people. i would definately go for the pioneer. its really all a matter of personal preference. looks wise they are very different so its up to you how each will look in your car.

pioneer +1

BTW....

they're both great decks, but when you ask which one is better for the money then the Alpine being $125 cheaper would be the better deal

you should compare the 8400 and the 7995 they're about the same price

if he shops on ebay then the pioneer is $340 plus shipping and the alpine is $290 plus shipping

$50 more for the pioneer. this just makes his decision that much harder..lol sorry

are those prices you have from authorized dealers bignick31985 ??

yeah those are the CC prices...

I havent looked on Ebay yet, but I am probably going to get the Pioneer, even though the 15db boost on the alpine is temptin, the pioneer has WAY more eq options, just puts out less power!

22 rms x4 while the apline does 27x4 rms

still gotta think a little more

I would go with the Alpine hands down! Options out the azz AND MP3 for 125 songs on a CD. I love my 7894.

For SUBs you might want to check out Audiomobile on the net. They don't do much marketing, but their SUBs hang with the big boys for a lot less. Read the reviews. I'm about to buy one or two 10s.

i have had expirience with both and they are boh great. my boy has the premier 930 and its pretty cool, but TO ME the alpine just sounds so much better. we both have the same car, the same components.i put my old alpine(7864)in my girl's truck and with no external added it sounded like i had a huge amp on there, something that the pioneer wont give you out of the box. even though the pioneer will impress the girls with the nice little graphics, i will stic with alpine.

I think the bass boosts push more distortion than anything else. I used run mine all the way up on every system, I decided to get something that should be loud enough well below clipping.

I had the 9300 before I sold it last week and the unit is fantastic! Tons of features and EQing flexibility, which made a great HU to have for anyone.

I am in the process of upgrading to a Alpine 7897. I will let you guys know, when I get one...I was just tired of taking the face off, so I like the 7897, b/c of its retractable face...

then turn it off, then you won't have to worry about it "messing" up your sound

I used to have a Pioneer DEH-P4300 and now have the Alpine CDA-7894, I know the DEH-P4300 isn't as good as the DEH-8400MP
BUT having swaped out the tow & hearing one right after the other the SQ on the Alpine is much better. the Alpine also feels like a much better built unit. and the Alpine remote is 100 times better than the pioneers. But I do miss all the tuneing options on the pioneer, but now that I have my Phoenix gold TiEQ215x I don't miss anything about the Pioneer.

Had a 940, sold it for a 7998, and i am much happier. The alpine is built better than the pioneer, and it sounds alot better. For pioneer you are paying alot of money for the flashy display
