I think that the rules for what is a single amplifier needs to be looked at. I don't think that a consumer should have to take apart an amplifier in order to find out if it is legal to run in a class in DB Drag. I know that there is some controversy right now about the colossus being 2 amplifiers. I know that it has one power connector, one remote turn on and one set of speaker outputs. This tells me it is a single amplifier.
If we don't allow an amp like this to count as a single aplifier then why do we allow a speaker that has quad coils if you wire them as duals under the cap and only bring out 2 sets of conductors?
These two quidelines/rules contridict each other in spirit. The ruling on the quads is that you aren't going to tear apart a speaker to find out if it it a quad but we will take an amplifier apart to see how many boards are in it.
I think that if you are going to rule the Colossus is 2 amplifiers for street class then we also need a list of what subwoofers are quad coil woofers so they cannnot be run in street.

You dont need to take the Collosus apart to see its two amps.
Hifonics have a pic on their website clearly showing it is.

Its upto manufacturers to prove they are not two amps, like Trendsetters tried to do and just like SPL D have had their amps checked.

Whats the big deal if a crown does the same power and you can buy it and run it. I agree with other people that say companies that look to save money on building a bigger amp by linking two in one chassis. It cuts down on inventory and overhead which is a viable business decision. There is nothing stopping other companies from doing this also. In the end the current drain and limited number of batteries is our true problem with power creation. I think that according to where the trends are headed unless new more efficient amps come out we are at about the pinnacle of what one batt can handle (6000 watts or so).
