I have heard the trailer nightmares, and we have definately had our share of those. This day though, was a true nightmare. We woke up to no hot water because the circuit breaker blew or something. So I am heating water on the stove for a bath. Nothing like a cold bath to really wake you up..
Then we get going on the highway finally to go to Indianapolis. My husband is riding his harley and the kids are taking turns riding with him. We get there, and he gets a flat while on I 69. We had to find the HD dealer there. Then the HD dealer is open for service but they can't help change the tire, so.. we get to the show and ask at least 5 security people outside the fair grounds where the dB Drag show is.. there response.. dB what? There are no signs to tell you where to go. We find the guys trailers on the other side of the park, but can't find the guys.
Finally, we park somewhere by the horsetrack and walk to the main building. We get there and go to pay and we are telling them we don't even know if this is the right building. She asks what we are looking for she says yes, this is the right building, takes our $100.00 for our entry fees (forgets to give us wrist bands) and then we go in and its not the right place.. its the lowrider area big arena. We ask more people with the blue shirts (security), they direct us and then we find other guys with the blue shirts telling us to go back where we came from, its the other way. By the time we get to the show area, we hear the mics are down 17 dbs and they are trying to fix it. The guys run through 1 time after they have to pay $35.00 entry fee. I thought that was kinda steep in the first place. Im thinking this is a double point event and they only qualify? I understand though, they only had the building till 5 and that was the reason.
When my husband went back with the trailer to get the bike he drops the keys to my blazer while loading the bike so he has to get a ride to find the keys (20 miles one way), luckily they were still there. The truck he uses to go get the bike with runs out of gas pulling the trailer. In the end, he gets back when they are giving out trophies.
When we were going home in my blazer, the brakes go out. That was a scary ride. Glad to say, we are home and I dont think I ever want to go back to the Indianapolis fair grounds again for another show. Totally bad day!
Recouping,
Becky
