So there I am with my battery completely disconnected as I upgrade my ground wire to 2 gauge... I even have on rubber gloves (I've seen wrenches fused to metal almost instantaneously, and 600 amps isn't something to play with.)
Now, lets note, my battery is a very tight fit in the area that it occupies so I can't clear the wires + battery of the car while i reattach the side mounted terminals...
So being as careful as i can I proceed to connect the terminal when BZZZZZZZZZZZZ my work pager (set to vibrate) goes off... I thought i was dead!
Turns out, I wasn't!

I don't care how much a person may consider themselves a failure, I believe in them, for they can change the thing that is wrong in their life anytime they are ready and prepared to do it. Whenever they develop the desire, they can take away from their life the thing that is defeating it. The capacity for reformation and change lies within." -Preston Bradley

The dude I work with has been shocked buy just about everything you can think of. He once told me of a story about when he was working at McD's and he was cleaning the french fry cooker and for some reason he had to use a wrench or something to fix it and slipped and he got nailed. We are not talking 110, no not 220, we are talking a full 440 baby. Try that on for size. He said it left a taste like he had been sucking on a penny for like 5 days. He had to take 3 days off cause it messed him up so much. He also said it felt like someone had kicked him in the nuts with steal toed boots.

Actually, I've had the occasional tingle from 12v. Take a hot day when you are sweaty and maybe your bare arm is leaning on the fender while you connect the battery. Again, nothing like a shock, but a little weird none the less...

does everyone know that the current that passes through your body is the actual danger!!. a human heart only needs 1mA (milliamper) to stop its beating(kill you). and because voltage and current are directly proportional given the same resistance (your body), so the higher the voltage the higher the current passing through. if some one is wet while getting shocked, the danger factor is tens of times bigger because his body has less resistance. believe it or not, my physics professor got shocked by 4000, yes four thousand volts!!!, he didnt die, but all the veins in his arms exploded and both arms were frozen and with blood all over. he had to go through hell in the hospital but now he is fine. i used to live in england and while trying to fix the vacum, i got zapped by the 240 volts. i got thrown backwards (reflexes) and i felt shaky and wierd for sometime. nothing major though. so dont trip that much about the 12 volts.
