i was reading some of the old posts and they reminded me of a story from back when I was in high school. A friend of mine had this old Audiovox 300 that he used to power his Pro Red 10s, I think Pryamid made those, well anyway he was upgrading to JL subs and PPI amps, back when PPI had the art series, and decided he wanted to just kill the audiovox amp so he did everything he could think of to blow it up, hooked all his subs up to it, that didn't work, then hooked every speaker in the car to it plus his 4 subs, and the thing kept working like nothing was wrong. So I finally got a good idea on how to do it, I got out some old carpet and wrapped the amp in it, it still took nearly 20 min but finally everything shut down. The amp was real hot, then after it cooled we tried to use it, The thing worked for about 5 min then smoked, bad thing was it only smoked 1 resister, we replaced it and it worked again. He decided to just take it to the pawn shop saying it was possessed and evil.

I could not blow it ... so I got the genius idea of soldering the pires to the board and putting the amp over the fire. Trial one did not kill it, wires started melting. We then covered the wires with a steel mesh and cranked it ... about 20 minutes and it literally exploded. I cannot tell you WHY exactly it exploded ... might have something to do with my goofy power supply (when u overdraw it ... it boosts voltage output from like 12 to about 100)

I'm not sure how to get around a protect mode on a Jensen, but to disable the high temperature shutdown, take the bottom cover off and unscrew the little roundish black thing (temp. sensor) attached to the heatsink, and bend it back without breaking it off.
