Me and one of my friends went into Radio Shack looking for a HU kit, but the clerk was busy with a customer. So we began looking at the junk they have to offer. And we see a MA Synergy 12". The clerk and his customer were right behind us. The clerk was trying to sell this srubby guy two inverted MA 6x9 in a seal box.My friend pick up the Synergy and said,"This thing is a pile of $!^@. Soon as the clerk heard this he turned to me and my friend and said, "this thing will wax anything you have." My friend got pissed and started bashing MA. So the clerk asked him what he has thats so great. My friend said," Lets just say I've won the last two comps here with a 154.6." Soon as my friend said this the clerk tries to get all buddy, buddy with us. As we were leaving the store my friend says MA F^&$%#! Sucks. As we were going for my car we see the clerk go out to his car. This old crappy Cutlass Ceira with speaker wires going from the hood to the cab. And I believe the wires were going to his 6x9's mounted on top of the rear deck. He fires up the car and I swear to god the thing was going to fall apart.

i am a radio shack employee myself. first to let everyone know the only thing we have for car audio left a re the cheap factory replacements, 8 ga wiring, fuse holders and thats about it we stoppped carrying everything else in about march as for what ever store you were in and whoever you spoke was probably a meat head as most are. i deal quite a buit with the people that come in aand look for the little parts and pieces that we carry and i dont bash any stuff that they tell me they have but i sit and get into a friendly debate about what i have and what they have and they actually are customers that now come in and chat about this and that. i feel ashamed myself for working here occasionally cause most forums have one or two posts about stupid RS employees so when someone comes in they immediately assumes i am dumb, wander around the store not finding what they need i'll ask what they are lookig for and what they are doing with it them look at me totally shocked when i can start a discussion about installation techniques and equipment. i have even gotted quite a few offers to do instalations based on disscsion with customers. Our hiring standards have gone way down, i'm not a genius about everything that we carry but am pretty knowledgable and most associates these days really have no awnsers it sucks and i feel embarassed

My friends and I have had a couple technical arguements with this guy. What made my friend so mad was that he jumped to the conclusion right away that he didn't have jack S^$&. My friend could have been Nate M. and he still would have said that. One time another one of my friends was discussing the Qms, Qes, Qts of subs with the Manager and he just stood there with a blank look on his and said, "yeah" to every thing. He was the manger and he didn't have a clue what my friend was talking about.

have to understand though that we are by no means a far stretch of an audio shop and the few associates who can chat are the occasional cool people that have an outside interest in car audio that just happen to work at radio shack but would love to work at a stereo shop, like myself, so i get excited when someone comes in that i can chat with about car audio and all of the other employees just kind of look at ya and smile and nod

Hey gang. Don't bash all RS employees, or shops. Our local RS is independantly owned, and carries Alpine, Kicker, & Stinger. They have for a long time and they do pretty good installs. Nothing major like custom 'glass, but the basic system installs are good. You guys must have the Corporate Radio Shack stores, and I feel bad for ya. This just gives me one more shop to compete against.

first off...did you ever consider that he may not be able to afford to drop alot of cash on his system? apparently not, and it must not have registered in your head that maybe he had more important bills to worry about because you commented on the bad condition of his vehicle. Not everyone can afford to blow money on loud systems, some just get by with what they can. Maybe he has RENT to pay, UTILITIES, SCHOOL, INSURANCE. All that stuff that most people living on their own have to pay when they move out.
Your friend's comment when you walked out the store is nothing to be proud of or laugh at...it only makes you look immature.
and so what if he didn't know what Qes and Qms and all was? I didn't know half that stuff for over a year after i really got into car audio (thank god for the internet and car audio forums ). If you're not really hard-core into audio then chances are you really couldn't care less about those specs.
Third...you're lucky he didn't throw you out of the store. Go do that in car stereo shop...salesman tryin to sell, say...a Crossfire amp to a customer, but because you don't like Crossfire or think they're junk (i'm sure some people do...seriously, jsut like some people think RF is junk) you say "man, that amp's a POS". I promise you you would've been promptly escorted to the door and told to leave.
If anything you should've felt sorry for the guy and tried to educate him a lil bit instead of bashing him and laughing at him. Not everyone gets to start out with nice equipment and a nice car that mommy and daddy may or may not have helped them buy...some people have to do it all on their own.
I got a link i want you to read by VegaS10...lemme go find it

you work at the RS in summerville? That radio shack store also has a shop called hurricane electronics in it that hosts all the car audio stuff.. They carry brands not normally carried in normal RS stores. If this isn't your store, my apologies.

the radio shack here where i live is independantly owned. They have a **** load of name brands like memphis, rockford fosgate, clarion, pioneer, and jl audio. They have a full demo wall ful of good subs and speakers........they arent stupid either......all people that work at RS arent installers, but at the radioshack where i live they all are and for the most part they know their ****, and if they dont, they do the right thing and ask one of their coworkers who does......All radio shacks's dont suck

This doesn't sound like a "funny" story to me. It sounds like some guy went into RS and started yapping about how RS's stuff sucked. If your buddy didn't like the stuff, he could have just kept his mouth shut. Also, if you are honestly expecting all RS employees to know all there is to know about car audio, you are shopping in the wrong place. That is not a bash on RS at all. They they sell lots of stuff, and they can't know all there is to know about everything. If I want to have a car audio discussion, I post on the forums and go to the local shop.

It sounds to me that your friend knows S#*t about car audio. MA makes some very powerful amps. I seem to remember Team Divine doing quite well at Finals with MA. You friend needs to keep his mouth shut unless he knows what he is talking about.

What made my friend so mad is that the Rat Shack employee made the asumption that my friend had nothing. It could have been Nate Munson, Steve Cook, Michael Hughes(etc). He didn't know what my friend had he just thought he had nothing. My friend was also in the mood for argument.

You should put all pertinent information in your original post. By reading that, your friend just comes across as a jerk(who, like you said, was in the mood for an argument).
