Today at work I was installing a breaker into a 480 volt electrical panel (i am an electrician by trade) and was putting it into an old timey Federal Pacific Panel (for those of you that know what crap those are) and while trying to loosen the screws on the buss bar to install the breaker, the buss shorted out against the panel can, all three phases!
Needless to say there was a huge explosion in my face and luckily enough I was not injured, the explosion threw me away from it. When it happened, the main breaker for the whole building tripped as well causing the whole middle school i was working in, go dark!
My buddy that was overseeing the work be done (standing over me) was ok too. We did go to the Dr. to get checked out, and was released with minor contusions to the chest. All the proper safety proceedures were in place, it was just wrong place at the wrong time........

Thats weird the burner on my electric stove blew up in my girlfriends face today too! We were cooking curry and about half way through cooking it, It started spraying sparks from underneath the pot. I mean SPRAYING sparks like a welder was welding on my stove. Burned a hole right thru the pot and curry started leaking everywhere. What the hell? Your an electrician what would cause that? My girl almost doodied her pants!lol

dude, i dont know what would cause that without looking and investigating it, but I do know a class ABC fire extinguisher would have come in handy..........

wow, we have that fuse panel in our house, an electrician was just here a few months ago and couldnt believe we had one, he cant even find fuses anymore for ours..........

I would think there is a very strict code for a school that would make those unuseable...can't believe they have fuses instead of breakers in a school.
