This local guy needed a radio put in a Chevy Bel Air (probably late 50's). For some odd reason he wanted to put a regular din style deck in the factory location, which was the good ole fashioned shafted radio. I told him it was going to cost him alot, and that I would not recommend cutting the dash, because everything in that car was in perfect condition. Anyways, he demanded that I cut the dash, so here we go!!! I got all of my tools ready, and got the old radio out. I found that the whole dash was 1/8 inch metal. I went for the tin snips....no where to be found, went for the small hacksaw....no where to be found either, went for the jig saw with a metal blade....no where to be found....finally, I gave up.....then I saw something glowing in the corner of the room.......A SAWZALL!!! (spelling) I called the guy and said that I didn't have the right tool for the job, but I had something that might work, but it would be risky to use. He said do it!! Now picture this....me in the back seat of the Bel Air with this huge saw trying to follow my guidelines (from the back seat) on the dash. Talk about a hoot!!! I was laughing the whole time, hoping no one would walk in and see what I was doing. It looked like I was jackhammering the dash in. hehehehe I am chuckling right now typing this..... So, it all fit in there and looked great. I never told him what I used to cut the dash, and didn't have to......he found out when he got the car back and found the saw in the back floorboards (because I wasn't use to cutting dashes from the back seat!!).......man I am a dope!!! You should've seen the look on his face when he brought that Sawzall back in to give it to me. He was like why was this in my car....hehehe Well that is my story...I plenty more to tell, when I have more time.

Well the only reason I left it in the back floor board, is because I wasn't use to working in the back seat when putting in a head unit......know what I mean?
