OK, everyone else has had no problem making fun of themselves. Way back on one of my first installs in high school, about 8 years ago...
My first big amp was a RF Punch 200 with the BBQ style. Sweet amp. Tons of power, could run all day long at heavy loads. But anyway, lets just say that I didn't really understand electricity that well.
I made sure and got huge power wire, all the fancy distribution and fuse blocks, etc. etc. The ground though, was an 8 guage wire with a ring terminal on it, that was put under a tiny little self tapping screw, and screwed into the floor ON TOP OF THE CARPET!
So you can image what happened the first day I really started pushing my amp hard... Hey, do you guys smell something funny? Ahh!!! My truck is on fire! The screw was so hot it melted the carpet and all the plastic off the ring terminal. The smell stayed in the truck for a week or two.
Hey, we all gotta learn somewhere, right!
